Living in East Sydney
The two districts in East Sydney are Eastern Suburbs and South-Eastern Sydney. A full list of all the suburbs within these districts are at the end of this page.

East Sydney are Eastern Suburbs and South-Eastern Sydney
The East Sydney, Eastern Suburbs and South-Eastern Sydney are all names of parts of the city of Sydney in Australia. The East Sydney is the name given to the area east of Camperdown, north of Cammeray and south of Milsons Point. The Eastern Suburbs are the suburbs on its eastern side including Camperdown, Cammeray, Hunters Hill, Belmore.
That would also be great for us too, Bob! We have our minds set on Bowral in the Southern Highlands. I did a lot of homework before visiting Australia and our minds have been in and out of different regions for whatver reasons. When I spoke to Greg after “discovering” Bowral, he said he was a great place and he took us there on our visit last year. We actually even managed to look at some houses, but we came back to France with pangs for Oz that you wouldn’t believe (or maybe you would). The other thing is you may wish to stay over if we had the room! Food for thought! Could you maybe drive down and stay off somewhere on route? We have some other Aussie friends, by the way, who live in the Brisbane area. I would certainly let you know a date for a housewarming but can’t give an indication yet. I wouldn’t forget to tell you though because I am not that kind of person. Regards.
Well, I don’t know if you’ve read my about me page, but our original plan was to move to France ourselves, we’d even picked out the town we were going to live in, but we changed and came to Australia almost at the last moment.
So we know quite a lot about France, but in our view, Australia is a much better bet and even more so now than it was when we moved in 2007.
Now, as for that party, my answer was tinged with a little bit of humour, hence the 🙂
Yes, it can be driven, it’s a 10 hour drive at best so it does need a stopover somewhere around Coffs Harbour. Then a 10 hour drive back with another stop off. As much as I love a party, it’s not really doable. Australia is a big place.
Maybe I can attend by video Skype? 🙂

Hello Bob, what a shame I didn’t see through the smiley! But that’s me, everyone welcome! Didn’t read that page (sorry!) but will do so now. We live in the South West (Charente Maritime) half way between La Rochelle and Bordeaux, near the coast. We have now become tired of the country because we find the French mostly difficult to get close to, although we do have some French friends who are really very nice people. Because we haven’t been in the workplace, we don’t need to speak the language too much, although I learned it pretty well via Linguaphone plus 1 to 2 tuition in the UK, and by attending classes here. It can be frustrating when the French just don’t want to understand, hence the urge to get to Australia. Having friends there already makes us feel very welcome before we even get there.
I will certainly let you know how things go. When we were on the plane last year, my hubby said “just wait until we are sitting here having bought a one-way ticket.” Music to my ears!
Yes, sorry about that, my humour doesn’t always translate well in the written form. Or any form sometimes.
So yes, the fact that Australia is an English-speaking country was a big plus for me and one of the main reasons, but not the only reason, we decided to move here instead of France. No regrets on that. Or ‘je regret rien” I think.

Don’t want it to seem as if I’m bothering you. But I do like to reply when people take the trouble to write to me. HEY! Now I know you have that brill sense of humour, I will always be “suspicious” – ha ha! I’m always joking. When Greg (Oz) and I get together, Graham (my hubby) and Sue just give up on us. We are always “scheming” as Sue says. Anyway, back to the present, your french, nearly there – just need to add a “t” and “e” to the end. Very complicated language. They make the rules and then break them. If we make it to Oz (we want to be able to speak our own language again and that’s where Australia would “do it” for us), NOUS VENONS REGRETTER RIEN AUSSI. So if things go well, we may be looking at leaving France next spring but will be living in Gibraltar for a short time and then move onward.
If we get there, fingers and toes crossed (heck, just tripped up!) and we go up and see our friends in QLD, perhaps we’ll look you up……….. “Oh no”, I hear you say!!!!!

Everyone deserves a BIT of excitement in their lives! Our QLD friend thinks I’m mad too. Everyone thinks I’m mad. I AM mad. What’s the use of being sensible – well from my point of view, only when we apply for the Visa! Bye for now.

I’m still reading around your latest email I mentioned earlier and have now come across this page. Joke or not (on your part) – if we get to Oz – YES, YOU CAN COME TO OUR HOUSEWARMING. It would be a pleasure and a privelege to have you there. I’ve been reading about Visas – very interesting. We know exactly which Visa we need and I have been in close contact with a MARA registered agent from Sydney, for a while now. Any questions I have I put to him and he comes back with the answers. He’s been our first point of contact and he sent a list of fees (for everything), so I don’t know whether they vary from agent to agent. Our Aussie friend says the costs look expensive and so does one of his friends there in Oz, but I guess that’s to do with the fact that they don’t need to apply for anything. I watched your video on applying for visas and found it very interesting. The only bit at the moment that puzzles me is that, as we are British nationals living in FRANCE, does that come under “British Nationals overseas”, because I heard you mention that Hong Kong is included in that category? Thank you X a million, Bob.

As for that housewarming invite, that’s fantastic, thank you, but if you’re actually moving to Sydney it would be a very long way for me to go for a party. And then, of course, I’d have to bring an esky full of cold beers as well, lugging it onto the plane, lugging it off, dragging it down the street…
