That’s something you would have to ask a MARA registered migration agent about.

  • RAKHI MENON October 20, 2015, 2:47 pm |

I am Rakhi,28 yr(Post graduate Nurse)Registered Nurse from India, with no work experience in Austrailia , about to file my EOI in the coming April/May 2016 for 190 visa state sponsered(NSW)

    AGE: 30 PTS
    EDUCATION :15 PTS
    WORK EXP : 0 PTS
    ENGLISH :10 PTS
    STATE SPON :5

    TOTAL :60

How many invites do they usually give away for nurses ? Is it done on a monthly basis, So what is the chance of me getting an invitation with a minimum of 60 points?

Is there occupational ceiling planned for registered nurses in each state in each year? will the EOI be carried over to the next year when the invitations has reached its ceiling of that particular year?

What is the validity of the IELTS result and applying for a 190 visa (Does it counts validity at the time of appying EOI or validity of the results at the time we receive the invitation)

    awaiting a response

    • BobinOz October 20, 2015, 4:55 pm |

Everything I know about this, which isn’t a lot, can be found on my page called EOI.

If you have a look at the comments there, you may find some answers to these questions.

    Hi,
Good hub of information! Thanks a lot! Please guide me on following:
    1. What is the possibility that i may not get the invitation to apply at all after EOI? Is australian gov bound to reply all the applicants? How long should i wait for invitation? If my EOI is not selected, can i again fill up EOI? Can i simultaneously fill up EOIs for various types of VISAs? Is there any cost for same?

    • BobinOz May 20, 2015, 9:41 pm |

Not questions I can answer for you, but if you read my page called EOI and in particular the comments, I’m sure you will learn a great deal about this process.

  • Sumiya Naz May 16, 2015, 12:08 am |

    Dear Bob,

I am a civil Engineer, having more than 9 years experience and currently residing in India, working for ISO certified infrastructure company. I have capable to achieve 7 band in IELTS, and I would like to get an agent who can represent to Australian immigration on my application. And specially, will I get any help to prepare Competency Demonstrative Report ( CRD) to Engineering Australia, If I choose your service.

I like to hear from you soon as possible

    • BobinOz May 18, 2015, 6:06 pm |

I’ve just checked this with my MARA agent, here is what he said…

“I can assist in the CDR, but EA require particularly the 3 career episodes required for the CDR to be in the words of the applicant.

The applicant can lodge in which case I would only provide skill assessment advice or I can lodge the application on-line on behalf of the applicant with the applicant preparing the 3 episodes with advice.

The EA MSA Booklet is quite detailed in respect of the CDR requirements.”

      Hope that helps, Bob

  • emirjan May 5, 2015, 7:46 am |

    Hello Bob
My name is Emirjan and i am from Albania. I would like to come in Australia as a tourist. I have been in Dubai, Indonesia, Turkey and a lots of countries before and now i am planning to visit Australia. The problem is that we do not have any travel agency which can send me to Australia and arrange tours for me there, so i have to plan them on my own.
First i need a tourist visa to come to Australia but when i checked http://immi.gov.au/ it was written that i need to write the itinerary. I am afraid of booking the Plane ticket and also the tours since i don’t know if they will provide me with a visa or not.
    What should i do?
Should i book and pay for the flight and for the tours and attach the bookings in my visa application?
What if my visa is not accepted? i might lose the money
    Can you advice me?
    Thanks In Advance

    • BobinOz May 5, 2015, 6:57 pm |

      Hi emirjan

I’m not sure how you should deal with this, it would seem mad to book the tour before you are granted the visa, so I’m not sure that’s a good idea. Is it possible to work out your itinerary before you book it and then apply for the visa on that basis, stating that it’s the intended itinerary as you haven’t yet booked anything as you don’t yet have a visa.

That’s all I can think of, but it may be wise to try and speak to a MARA registered migration agent for advice.

      Good luck, Bob

  • ali every April 24, 2015, 7:55 pm |

hi i arrived in mooloolaba qld on monday and having problems with internet and cell plans, seems i cant get a plan or internet for 3 months because have to show proof of home for 3 months, tried buying a sim card and getting top up vouchers but they say i need to have an identity check with proof of home, we are in a hotel for a month so cant do that, any advice?

    • BobinOz April 27, 2015, 2:36 pm |

I’ve not heard of this problem before. With the Sim card, surely you don’t need proof of address if you go prepaid?

I think what you need to do is buy a 4G mobile broadband modem, Telstra have the best coverage but are expensive, so if you have coverage in your area through Vodafone that may be cheaper. Then you just need to hotspot to that modem.

Not the cheapest way of doing it, but it should get you by the three months.

    Hi Bob,

My Son is citizen of Australia and completed his schooling in Australia, if he studied MBBS from one of UK Medical university and attained provisional registration can he able to get intern-ship in Australia in order get AMC full registration.

He is going to decide weather to join in UK medical college or not. As on EU students are not getting intrenship in UK told by university.

    Your advise is highly appreciated.

I think so. Have a look at my page called Doctors in Australia and you will find much more information there, especially in the comments that are answered by Paul who is an expert in this field.

  • Madu April 17, 2015, 8:16 pm |

I was looking at one of the immigration documents and it say – “Documents Certified Outside Australia can be certified by an equivalent authority within the country of origin. Legal professionals and embassy officials can provide information regarding certification of documents outside Australia.” What is mean by country of origin? Does it mean, where the document is originated from? or my country of origin? The reason i am asking is, i am born and bought up in India but i am living/working in Singapore. I am singapore PR. The documents referred here would be from India. So do i need to get them certified from India only or Can i get it certified from Singapore?

    • BobinOz April 18, 2015, 12:15 am |

Good question, I can’t answer it specifically, but I’m sure if, for example, you took an Indian marriage certificate to a Singaporean JP and asked him to certify it, he would tell you if he couldn’t. I think these people know what they can and can’t do.

So just go to the nearest certifier and ask, that’s what I’d do.

Hey guys, I have been researching a lot on moving to Australia and we have come up against a problem. We want to move on a skilled migration visa but I couldn’t tick off a few of the mandatory skills and wondered if anyone else had experience of this and still found a way in. Everyone I have asked have all said they want an upfront payment before they can answer. As we all know, moving to Australia is expensive enough as it is without having to pay someone a huge chunk of cash for them to say no. I know there will still be no guarantee but it would be nice to know if there is no chance before parting with the cash.

    • BobinOz April 16, 2015, 8:10 pm |

Unfortunately only a MARA registered migration agent would be able to give you an accurate answer and it is something that takes time if they are to do a proper and full assessment of your situation.

I have an agent working with on this website, he can help you, it won’t be for free, but it’s certainly not a huge amount either.

To read more about it, if you’re interested, click on the main navigation menu across the top of the page – Visas – Visa Assessment Service.

      Good luck, Bob

  • Karen April 10, 2015, 9:16 am |

Hi I would really appreciate your advice. I have a client who has a holiday accommodation home in Manly Queensland. She has engaged me to do some promotion of her business for her. She currently obtains quite a few visitors from overseas and would like to better target this market. Can you advise me at all about how people overseas would be seeking short term accommodation in Australia. How would a non English speaking person (or person with little English) find accommodation such as a holiday home in Australia?, would people from Asia for example go to a travel agent? and then would the travel agent have any information on holiday homes or just hotels..? Which accommodation directories are most popular in different countries (particularly USA) and please any other advice you could provide would be great. Karen

    • BobinOz April 11, 2015, 3:31 am |

I think they go to rental management companies, relocation specialists, Gumtree, hotels and holiday rentals. Finding accommodation can be a major headache for some people, I’m often asked for tips and I have written a few articles about it.

It can be a nightmare, but I’m not sure how this might help your client, good luck though, Bob

Hi Bob, hope you can help. Im desperate to join my 2 half sisters in Australia whom I discovered existed through the internet. Im a 51 year old widow born and bred in Zambia(Africa). My late dad(who was Dutch) came to Zambia in the early 1960s, met my late mum(who was half British/half Zambian) and he disappeared when she was expecting me. I found out after a search of over 20yrs that he migrated to Australia, married and had my sisters. I haven’t yet met my sisters and only we communicate via facebook, emails and phone. My sisters and I are not able at the moment to raise the amount needed for the visa and airticket. Do you know of any organisations/persons that can help? Kindest regards, Junita

    • BobinOz March 20, 2015, 7:33 pm |

The only organisations I know that might be able to help you are the following..

      iarc.asn.au

      Or…

      refworld.org

I’m not sure if this is their kind of thing or not, but worth a try. Good luck, I hope you get to meet your sisters. Bob

Hi there, were seriously thinking of emigrating to OZ but we’ve not got a clue of where’s best… We have two young children so would like to be near schools & the beach but my husband needs to be within an 1 1/2 drive to work. He is an A Class welder on power stations so we have looked at the gold mines, power plants etc but he doesn’t really want to do FIFO. Does anyone know of any areas that have his type of work, schools & beaches all in one area?
    Thankyou xx

    • BobinOz February 26, 2015, 12:32 am |

No, I don’t, maybe somebody else can suggest something.

All I can suggest is that you search for work using the links I have on my page called Getting a Job or a Sponsorship and see if you can find any opportunities in an area that would suit you. Good luck, Bob

I would just like to say Thank you! I m moving to Australia this year with my family, and despite having all the right reasons to move, keep getting scared and doubtful about making such a big change. Your fabulous blog has really helped boost my confidence in the decision and I ll keep reading until i m there myself!

    • BobinOz February 22, 2015, 8:54 pm |

Yes, it is a big move and there will always be last-minute moments of doubt. Glad my blog has helped to overcome some of them and I hope all those concerns disappear once you have arrived and settled in.

The first 4 to 6 months will probably be quite difficult, but stick with it, give yourself time to adjust and I’m sure everything will turn out great. Good luck, Bob

    • BobinOz February 20, 2015, 9:15 pm |

I’m sure it is possible to marry your boyfriend, assuming he says yes 🙂 Whether that will allow you to come to Australia or not, I really couldn’t say, that’s a matter for the immigration department to decide.

      Good luck, Bob

  • Vivek February 17, 2015, 4:46 pm |

    Hello Bob,
I am planning to move to australia this June. I am awaiting to get my PR visa which was applied on Jan 29th. My application is complete, I have loaded all the required documents along with Medicals. I am expecting a visa grant decision by April second week as per the allocation dates in the immigration website.
    My queries,
    1. How is the job market now in australia.
    2. I am a Aircraft reliability Engineer. How sooner I may get a job for my profile provided that I have a total experience of 9 Years.
    3. I am travelling with my wife and my 8 months old twin children, what all should I consider to help me settle comfortably. it does worry me when I think of managing the kids in a new place provided that we ourselves are new to the place.

    • BobinOz February 18, 2015, 1:09 am |

All subjects I have covered on this website many times in great depth. Maybe you should try to find your way past my “thank you” page and have a read of some of the other thousand plus pages I have here. You can use the search box towards the top right hand side of every page to find exactly what you’re looking for.

Search for words like jobs, money and comfortable income, you will find lots and lots of information.

      Good luck, Bob

  • nicolene February 10, 2015, 4:34 pm |

    Hi Bob

My husband and I are thinking about moving to Aus.
We are born and raised South-African’s.
We have a son who is turning 3 in Aug.and will be having a new baby end of the year.
My biggest concern is the kids.
Will they adapt? what about the baby and daycare?
Are there any Afrikaans schools in Aus.?

    thank you so much

    • BobinOz February 10, 2015, 8:00 pm |

Of course they will adapt. My daughter was three when we came here and these days she’s just like a little Aussie girl. She loves it here.

We do have baby and daycare, I don’t know specifically about the costs these days, but check out my post…

      https://www.bobinoz.com/blog/12566/childcare-options-for-children-in-australia/

…there is a link in the article to a really helpful website.

Not sure about the schooling question either, you may have to search elsewhere for your answer for that one. Good luck, Bob

  • Sophie February 7, 2015, 4:36 am |

    Hi Bob,

Thanks for your help- it’s really appreciated.

I am thinking of re-training in Human Resources but can’t see it on the list. Is that because it’s not in demand?

    Many thanks
    Sophie

    • BobinOz February 9, 2015, 5:18 pm |

Or it may be listed under a different title, but I don’t know, I don’t get involved with the skills lists. This is something you should really be speaking to a MARA migration agent about for an accurate answer.

  • Sophie February 5, 2015, 5:57 am |

    Hi,

Sorry if this has been answered previously but is it possible for both my husband and I to apply for a visa together? Only individually we qualify for 50 points each.
My husband is a toxicologist and I am a training officer/education officer.

    Many thanks in advance.

    Sophie

    • BobinOz February 5, 2015, 5:16 pm |

It is quite normal for a husband and wife to be included in the same application, but one of you will have to qualify in your own right. I strongly suggest you seek the advice of a MARA registered migration agent about your situation or, if you prefer, go through my Visa Assessment Service.

It’s the best way to find out exactly what your options might be. Good luck, Bob

        Thanks Bob!

Out of interest, what areas in Brisbane are good for young families?

        Many thanks,

        Sophie

        • BobinOz February 6, 2015, 7:39 pm |

Check out the comments on my page about Brisbane Sophie, your find out quite a lot about the suburbs around here. I’m not sure we have a ‘bad’ suburb for children here, parks are everywhere, I think as long as you don’t go too close to the city it’s all kid friendly.

hi i want to come out on a years tourist visa, can i get my kids into school during that time in queensland, just want to have a base and travel around at weekends and holidays etc but looking really complicated and not sure if i need a student visa. if i get a student visa do i still need a tourist visa for them? thanks

    • BobinOz January 15, 2015, 10:03 pm |

It’s very complicated, I’m pretty sure you won’t get schooling for your kids whilst here on a tourist visa, but you really need to be talking to a MARA registered migration agent about your options. Good luck, Bob

  • Mae January 14, 2015, 10:45 pm |

    Hi Bob,

    Mabuhay!
I’m Mae from the Philippines, I came across your site when I’m doing my research on Australian migration. Me and husband with our two kids (12 yrs old and 1 year) are planning to migrate in Australia, but husband is a bit worried because he might not land a job immediately. Is the job opportunity in Australia really good? and given we don’t have any relatives there and we would really be on our own, would it be very difficult for us? As you can see, I have a young family, can you suggest/ recommend place in Australia where we can migrate and at the same it has a good job opportunity.

    • BobinOz January 15, 2015, 9:03 pm |

It’s impossible for me to say Mae, it depends what your husband’s skill is, how much it is in demand here and what he is like at interviews. I suggest that you do some research through my page Getting a Job or a Sponsorship and use the links you will find there to search for jobs your husband can do to see what comes up.

      Good luck, Bob

  • Gemma Melly January 1, 2015, 11:48 am |

    Hey Bob how’s things?

Bob please can you help me am looking information about moving myself my fiancé and are 2 year old son to OZ I don’t know where to start I am a fully qualified nurse and my fiancé is a qualified support worker we just want abit of help into the right direction to talk to someone about moving to Australia my fiancé Aaron was there before on a working holiday visa would that be a problem with him getting in to OZ again? And where would you recommend a family start a life in oz? Me being a nurse I want to go were the money is best to help support my family any information would be great hope to hear from you take care 🙂

    • BobinOz January 4, 2015, 9:06 pm |

Things are good Gemma, hope they all for you as well.

So, where is the best place for you to start? You could read my page about Nurses, doctors and dentists in Australia., you’ll find some interesting links that will help you find out whether your qualifications are recognised here and a bit more about the process of getting registered to work as a nurse in Australia.

You could also have a look at my page called Visas and watch the video I have there, it will show you how to navigate the government’s immigration website to find out which kind of visa would suit you.

It’s a complicated process though, so many people use a MARA registered migration agent. I have one working with me here, he can assess you and by using him it means you don’t really have to bother with all that reading and understanding everything stuff 🙂

You can read about what he can do on my page about my Visa Assessment Service.

Right now I couldn’t tell you where would be best for you to go here in Australia, that may well depend on which state or city has the biggest shortage of nurses, that’s something my agent should be able to tell from the various skills shortages lists that he has access to.

Hi I was looking for some advice please. My husband, myself and two young children are looking to move to Australia next year on 189 visa. We are having a holiday on the way and may actually enter australia before the visa has been approved. I realise we would need a temporary visa to enter australia. But would we then to leave the country to activate the 189 visa or could we just change over when it comes through? Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately this is one of those questions that I am not legally allowed to answer, so my best advice to you is to either check with your case officer or through the immigration department about the rules on this. Or if you have used a MARA registered migration agent, speak to them, they will be able to advise.

      Good luck, Bob

    Hi Bob,
Im living in Melbourne and I have a 10year old nephew how is living in iran almost alone . I went to iran court 2 times for adoption but they deny because his father and grandfather is alive. They said if he didn’t have father or grandfather , I could adopt him. His mum abandoned him 5 years ago and in my parents house he didn’t treat well.so I rent a house for him but recently I found he is suffering from depression that it caused from many thing that I hate to mention it . I’ve tried to bring him by many visas but still not sure .please help me with that.
    Regards

I can’t help you with this Zara, only MARA registered migration agents are able to assist in these kind of things. But even they cannot help until you get full custody of your nephew. Good luck, Bob

    Hi bob
    great site and really informative
myself wife and son are going to start the skilled migration process in the new year , have been told our chances are pretty good with the trade I have and experience .
My biggest concern though is the amount of money states are wanting, to locate, we have no house to sale ( have always rented) we have substancial savings , but to move to queensland they are asking for 40000 dollers, our plan is to save while going through the visa process , I was wondering if you have a ball park figure of roughly how long it can take , and if once we have the visa is there a time limit on it before it expires , I’m guessing the 40000 dollers is needed to be shown in our bank account after the flights visas agent costs etc etc has been paid for, and am a bit worried about starting the process to soon , stopping us from raising the amount of money were going to need to complete the process from start to finish .
    Many thanks
    sam

I can’t give you an exact timescale on this, it’s different for everybody. I’ve heard from people who have gone through the entire process within just a couple of months, and others where it takes more than 18 months.

The time limit before it expires also depends on the kind of visa you get as well, so I can’t even help you with that. Your best bet would be to consult with a MARA registered migration agent, they should be able to give you a better indication based on your full information.

      Good luck, Bob

    hi bob,
i am from india and i would like to do my MBA in australia and i am planning the whole thing for that…….but there is some thing i still want to know is do australian companies will offer a job for indian after we complete graduation and get a PR? (i heard that if i study in aus for 2 or more years i will be eligible to apply for PR or extended visa)
    thank you

Well, yes, we do have Indians in employment here, but there are no guarantees. It’s just like anybody anywhere, some people can land a job, others can’t. It’s between you and the prospective employer and the onus is on you to prove to them that they should employ you.
