In Monday’s post I presented you with a few pictures from Moreton Island, and said that today I would tell you whether or not we had a good time.
The weather was pure scorchio, I don’t think any of us saw a thermometer all weekend, but we all suspected it was at least 32°C for most of it, maybe even more on the last day.
As you know, I’ve been to North Stradbroke Island on many occasions, so how does Moreton Island compare?
Unlike Straddie, there are no proper roads, so you either drive on the beach or off road, there is no other choice. So just because of that, Moreton Island is much more like a Pacific island retreat, a beachy paradise, than Stradbroke.
But both are amazing places, are well worth a visit and offer great weekend break alternatives to the Sunshine Coast and the Gold Coast for those of us who live in Brisbane.
My only gripe with Moreton Island is that there is really nothing to do. Unless you like…
- Dolphin feeding
- Sunset cruises
- Kookaburra feeding
- Desert safari tours
- Quad bike riding
- Off-road four-wheel driving
- Marine discovery cruises
- Going to the pub
- Tinnie boat driving
- Or doing nothing
And if none of that lights your fire, there’s always bingo or karaoke.
Have I missed anything?
Maybe, check this out….
