A Weekend on Moreton Island, Queensland, Australia

Those of you who read Friday’s post with the long title that included the words An Island in the Pacific, will know that I made a certain number of predictions.

I am happy to announce that almost all of those predictions were spot-on, except the final one which suggested our ferry “would depart at 8:30 AM sharp”.

It didn’t, it was 8:36 AM.

I then went on to explain we were going to Moreton Island, and we did. The place we stayed at is actually called Tangalooma.

So, did we have a good time?

Well, this is the house we stayed in…

And if you climbed up a tree and looked in that direction, just as Nick did…

When the sunsets though, and you look straight out from the balcony of our house, you’d see something slightly different. This…

Anyway, the Sun has long since set here; we didn’t arrive back until gone six o’clock in the evening. It is now approaching 10 o’clock, and I really need to stick my feet up and chill. It was an extremely hot weekend, sort of saps your energy.

Don’t you just hate that? The sun and the heat, sucking all your strength and will? All you have left in you is just about enough to lever open another bottle of beer, before sinking back into your beach chair to continue staring at the sea. Three full days of it.

I’m worn out!

So I’ll tell you on Wednesday whether or not we had a good time.

But come on, what do you think?

Hey, did you try the sand tobogganing, great stuff.

No, we tried to, but found out too late that it only happens at 1:30 PM. We missed it by about half hour and couldn’t go the next day as we had to be on the boat by three o’clock.

We will next time though, for sure!

Do, it’s great fun, but don’t expect too much, as apparently most only manage 2 runs, the uphill climb turns muscles into jelly, but the downhill run is a buzz. Elizabeth may be able to manage on her own, if not go piggyback style and get Mrs bobinoz to video.

Maybe Elizabeth can piggyback me, she’s the one who really wants to do it. Seriously, it’s definitely something we will do next time we go.
