The Myer 2011 Christmas Parade in Brisbane

Here in Australia the closest you will get to John Lewis or Debenhams is a store called Myer. We also have a store called David Jones, but today I’m talking about Myer because they went to the trouble of putting on a Christmas parade here in Brisbane.

Apparently, they’ve been doing this kind of parade in Melbourne for some time. It’s a much bigger event over there, where around 40,000 people line the streets to watch as many as 2,000 perform in the parade.

Our Brisbane show was a little more modest, but I think this is one of the first we’ve had here, so it may become a bigger event over time.

It wasn’t the longest parade in the world either, lasting about 10 minutes, but it was fun. I’ve managed to condense those 10 minutes down to less than four, so now everyone can find the time to enjoy the 2011 Myer Christmas Parade in Brisbane.

Watch out for the swimming pool, not too many countries feature those in their Christmas parades…..

Merry Christmas one all, let’s hope it’s a good one. I’m going to take a festive break; I’ll be back on Wednesday, 4 January.
