A Day on the Beach: Labrador, Gold Coast

I can’t remember the last time we went to the beach. Oh yes I can, yesterday!

Of course, I meant before that. We came close to being on the beach when we went to Lota to celebrate three years living in Australia. Before that, who knows? But we went yesterday.

You see, with all the weather we’ve been through lately and with tomorrow being the first day of autumn here, we’re going through a heat wave. Yesterday it hit 36°.

So we went to Labrador, which is about an hour or so’s drive from Brisbane and on the north end of the Gold Coast.

It’s just up the road from Surfers Paradise, which you can see here from a distance….

Gold CoastLabrador though, was much quieter, which isn’t a bad thing.

LabradorBut when I say quiet, I’m probably doing the place a disservice. There was lots going on, people swimming, boating, flying kites or zipping around on jet skis…

jet skiThey say the best things in life are free and I reckon going to the beach is one of them. It certainly was a cheap day out, $25 spent in the chip shop at lunchtime and $13 in a restaurant for coffees early evening.

We all had a great day out and I have to say, it’s good to be back on the beach again.

But just up the road….

On the very same day, there was chaos at Main Beach, which is only about a kilometre or so away. Three, yes, THREE, eastern brown snakes were slithering in the sand.

But you don’t want to read about killer snakes on the beach, do you?

Want to know more about Labrador?

I’ve made a video…

And what about spiders? is it normal to see them in the houses?

No problem Bob, here in Argentina humans are more dangerous than snakes!

    Cheers!

Spiders in the house aren’t really a problem, as long as you sort your house out. Check out one of my post on pest control treatment. There are more from previous years too.

And I know what you mean about humans.
