It’s the end of the week and as regular readers will know, I like to take a look around to see what’s been happening in Australia elsewhere. Then I like to include a YouTube video about it. Easy.
So what’s been happening over the last few weeks in Australia? Well, The Wiggles were live in Canberra. Iron Maiden were doing the rounds, playing in many of our major cities. The world’s largest aircraft, the Antonov AN-225 Mriya, landed at Perth Airport drawing a crowd of thousands.
Oh, and Australia is gearing up for yet another federal election. Really, another one already? None of this is really of much interest to us, so I decided today we can take a look at Kangaroo Island.

Kangaroo Island
Kangaroo Island is a great big green lush and hilly island retreat with thousands and thousands of fluffy kangaroos bouncing up and down having fun. Well, I’ve never been, so I have no idea what it’s really like. That’s what I imagine it to be like though.
So it’s lucky we have YouTube so we can see what it’s really like.
Here, in Brisbane, we have our own island retreat with some wonderful wildlife, its called North Stradbroke Island and I love going there. It’s like stepping back in time. It would appear that Kangaroo Island serves exactly the same purpose for Adelaide.
I don’t really need to say very much more, the two videos I have coming up will do the job for me. The first is another beautiful movie by Selmesfilms. Keep your eyes peeled for the monotreme…
So, no kangaroos?
Of course there are, how could Kangaroo Island not have kangaroos? Over to National Geographic…
ALSO BOB watch a advertiseing video from freedom Australia FANTASTIC
I found their website, but didn’t see the video, do you have a link? You can just post it straight in the comments if you have. Cheers
its a fantastic place bob u must visit its only about 4000k from Brisbane if you take the costal roads !! get the ferry from cape jervis and watch all the dolphins ., visit emu bay on the north and stokes bay and go to pauls place an animal sanctuary if its still open ! visit little sahara and vivonne bay on the south and stay at southern ocean lodge if you have deep pockets !!!!
Okay, sounds perfect, I’ll pop down in the car tomorrow morning 🙂
Seriously though, it is on my list of places to visit, and next time I go to Adelaide, I’ll be sure to check out the island. Perhaps not Southern Ocean Lodge by the sound of it, although I’m sure it would be a great experience. Cheers, Bob
Are the kangaroos poisonous? Or is the island?
It’s Australia, something’s gotta be able to kill you!
Yes, of course. In this particular case just go for a quick dip in the sea and undoubtedly you would get eaten by a shark.
A poisonous shark?
No, sharks don’t need to be poisonous, haven’t you seen Jaws? Those things don’t have to paralyse you before they start munching and they are certainly something that would be able to kill you.
I can sense that has disappointed you, you were hoping for something venomous on the island? No worries, as I understand it they have tiger snakes as well. They’re one of the world’s top 10 venomous snakes according to most people.
Australia never lets you down 🙂
Oh goody 🙂 I am a happy camper!
