When Koalas Get Mad!

Eee.”

Eeeeeeee.”

Aaaaaeeeee!

That conversation will make more sense to you after you’ve watched the first of the two videos coming up shortly.

Koalas

Every wild koala I’ve seen in Australia has been in a tree, usually asleep or simply not doing much. Like this…

a naturally wild koala Koala

koalaOr climbing up a tree, like this…

koala climbing higher koala nearly there

koala getting thereSometimes though, koalas get angry, really angry. Before we get to that though, let’s take a look at a couple of koalas who, rather than being really angry, are just having a bit of a tiff. Here’s where you can make sense of the earlier conversation…

Eeeeeeee.” indeed.

Of course, we can have no idea what they were arguing about, but I suspect it was something to do with eucalyptus leaves.

Now it’s time for the main event. No red corner and blue corner here, just the upper part of the tree and the lower part of the tree. In the lower part of the tree we appear to have the aggressor and in the upper part of the tree, we seem to have a koala who has no choice but to defend himself.

I’m not even going to try to put into print the sounds that you are about to hear and if you watch this video, you’ll fully understand why. Let’s see what happens…

Yes, how do you print that. What a racket!

Well, they are animals after all, and even if they do fight now and again, they are still undeniably cute. That’s why I’ve written about them at least three times on this website. For more on koalas, visit…

Of course, if your interest isn’t so much in koalas, but instead fighting animals, particularly those native only to Australia, you’re in luck. Have a look at…

Yes, it’s certainly a strange noise, isn’t it? Not what you’d expect from a koala.

Those are so not the sounds I expected koalas to make.

I had them down for snoring, not much else.

I watched a documentary about Australia yesterday and a good portion of it was dedicated to koalas. They’re such interesting animal but yet so surprisingly aggressive. They always climb trees backwards and sometimes, if there are many koalas, there can be traffic jams!

It’s quite astonishing to think that both koalas and kangaroos and the sort evolved from small rodents to adapt to their climate. There really are some interesting animals in Australia!

Yes, we really do have some fascinating wildlife here, quite unique. Koala traffic jams, who would have thought? 🙂
