……is an Australian light switch.
Perhaps I’m easily impressed, but when I first moved into our new house, I had a bucketload of decorating to do. Included on my list of tasks was…..prepare and paint every wall and every ceiling in the entire house.
As anyone will tell you, the best way to paint around light switches and electrical plug sockets is not to paint around them at all. It is far better to remove the two long retaining screws and temporarily pull your lightswitch or electrical plug socket away from the wall.
As anyone who has done this regularly will also tell you, locating the screw thread that these long screws go back into is not always easy. In fact it can be downright fiddly. For me, I always had a particular problem remembering where I’d put those pesky screws!
Here’s how it’s done in Australia…..
Smart huh? No screwdriver needed because….. there are no screws. No kind of tool needed whatsoever, just unclip it using your hand. Clip it back using your hand. Fast and simple. Why didn’t the UK think of that?
Here’s what you end up painting around……
All the electrical sockets in my home you have this clip on – clip off feature. That’s plug sockets, light switches, TV aerial sockets and telephone points.
So interesting fact about Australia #3 is… Electric switches have unclipable edges to help you paint round them, or…..
Australians, they are smarter than you think.
