Darwin: Australia’s Least Most Liveable City???

Well, it’s not fair to say that Darwin IS Australia’s least most liveable city, but of the 11 cities that were included in this poll, it did come 11th.

Anyway, as it came 11th, why are we looking at Darwin today? We did Newcastle last time, they came fourth, so surely we should now be on the fifth most liveable city, Geelong?

Well, technically, yes. But on the basis that a) I have declared this to be northern Australia week on Bobinoz and b) I’m actually in Darwin right now, then this week we are going to be showcasing…

Darwin

Since I’ve been living here in Australia it seems to me that Darwin is either a love it or hate it kind of place. The people who hate it, I suspect, don’t like the heat, humidity, the crocodiles, the killer jellyfish, the sharks, the dangers of the sea and the price of housing.

Those who love it though, surely like the laid-back nature of the city, the open spaces that surround it, the wildlife, the natural beauty, the national parks and watching the sunset.

Me, I’m probably making my mind up right now about whether I love or hate Darwin, I’m in the middle of my 10 day holiday here. When I get back I’ll tell you all about it.

But the most liveable city poll that was conducted recently asked residents of 11 cities in Australia what they think of where they live. Let’s find out what the people of Darwin think of Darwin.

Darwin, Northern Territory

What Darwin residents like about Darwin:

  • Having a good road network and minimal traffic congestion;
  • Having good economic and employment opportunities;
  • Having a diverse range of people who get along well.

Darwin residents were not so keen on:

  • The quality and range of affordable housing;
  • The cost of living there;
  • Being a safe place for people and their property.

And now, of course, it’s time for a video. Remember, when you watch this, that this city came 11th out of the 11 in the list.

Really?

What must the other 10 cities be like then? Because this looks pretty impressive…

    Nice scenery in video, but on the other hand it lasted five minutes and there wasn’t a single shot of the city in it…..

      Well spotted, I didn’t actually notice when I watched the video. It’s not one of mine though, but stay tuned, I will be uploading photographs of the city in a post very soon.
