Taking Care of Dogs in Australian Quarantine

As you know we had a fantastic weekend in Sydney, not quite living like millionaires, but certainly hanging out where all the millionaires live, and, I’ve since been told, multi-millionaires. At one point during our weekend, Mrs Bobinoz did say “I’ve changed my mind about Sydney, I could live here.

No you can’t!

North Shore, for us, will remain a mini break destination.

Our trip down south though wasn’t all fun and games. We both went down there to do a bit of work as well, which is why we arrived on Wednesday evening. I needed to do some filming for this website and Mrs Bobinoz needed to visit her dogs in quarantine and her dog walking team for her company Dogwalks.com (now closed).

Even Elizabeth mucked in and she was thrilled to go to work with her mummy and did a fine job entertaining those dogs in quarantine.

Elizabeth’s favourite was Sassy, a cute little dog who actually knew how to play puppy tiggy. That’s one up on me; I had to ask Elizabeth what the rules were. Turns out it’s a bit like “it”; as in tagging people and saying “you’re it” before running away like billio.

Let me explain with a few pictures. Here’s Elizabeth just about to tag Sassy…

Sassy 3Clover had a run out as well, his preferred game was catch. This one I did know the rules for; first throw dog toy in the air…

CloverMrs Bobinoz enjoyed seeing the dogs too…

Karen and CloverBoth Karen and Elizabeth are dedicated dog lovers, that’s why we have Hippy, as are each of the dog walking teams that are in place in all three Australian quarantine centres in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth.

They really do love visiting these dogs, taking them for walks, exercising them, playing with them and giving them toys and treats. They don’t walk cats, but they do visit them, groom them and give cat cuddles.

If you’re bringing your dog over, I highly recommend the services of Dogwalks.com (before it closed), well I would wouldn’t I? She is my wife!

If you’ve enjoyed these doggy pictures, there are plenty more, actually thousands, in the Dogwalks Gallery.

What do you reckon Clover?

Unfortunately, due to changes in quarantine laws, Dogwalks walked dogs in quarantine for the last time in July 2014.

We will come from France to Sydney with our 2 dogs in february, and we are looking for professionnal dog visits during the 10 days of quarantine in the Eastern Creek facilities.
We tried to contact dogwalks, but with no answer.
Do you know if they still provid quarantine visit services in Sydney ?
    Thanks for your help

      Hi Stephane,

Yes, Karen is still running Dogwalks, although with the changes things are little up in the air at the moment. Did you try phoning or email? Not sure why you got no answer, but she is definitely around now if you want to give it another try.

      Cheers, Bob

      Hi Stephane,

Thank you for contacting me and not sure why your email didn’t come through. Would you mind sending me another email please to karen@dogwalks.com.au and I will watch out for it? We would love to see your dogs although we don’t yet know what the new visiting regulations will be.

      Merci et a bientot,

Say… Is it possible to come visit your dog while it’s in quarantine? Not that I don’t trust your wife and her workers (and will employ them when the time comes) to be very capable and caring, but a month is a long time away from my dogs, for me as well as them.
Also, what about their food? Can I send a big bag of the food they’re used to get along with them, or will they be fed some generic hay?

      Hi Kamma

No, they are not fed generic hay, the food they all get is called Advance. If you want special food though, you will need to buy and deliver it, or if you are not able to do that, my wife can do it on your behalf.

Yes, you can visit your dog while it’s in quarantine, but currently rules are each dog is only allowed two walks +2 visits a week, so if you visit, my wife and her dog team can’t, although my wife is quite happy to mix and match with you.

      Hope that helps, thanks, Bob
