Those of you who read my post on Friday will know that we have had a weekend away and our destination was the Sunshine Coast, Alexandra Headland to be precise.
Alexandra Headland is a small town, population of around 4,000, on the coast of Queensland between Mooloolaba and Maroochydore. The easy way to get there from Brisbane is to head on up the Bruce Highway, but the prettier way is to go through Dayboro, and that’s what we did.
Dayboro is an even smaller town, population 1,692 according to the 2011 census. It’s small size doesn’t stop it from having a pub though…
It’s also got a post office and a church…
… and a few other shops sprinkled here and there. But the best part of driving through Dayboro on the way to the Sunshine Coast are the views…

The downside though, is it takes about 2 1/4 hours, instead of one and a quarter. Anyway, talking about views, this was ours from the front of the house we, four families in all, were staying in…
Sea views, just about; you can definitely see blue water between the two buildings opposite. But from the other side of those buildings it’s a much better view…
On Saturday morning we went to another small town called Eumundi. The population there is apparently 1,924, that doesn’t stop them from having a pub either…
…in fact, I think they have two. But most people go to Eumundi for the markets, called, wait for it, Eumundi Markets…
Alexandra Headland is so close to Mooloolaba, you can walk it in about 10 minutes. We did, a couple times, and the beaches there are pretty good too…
Yes, we all had a great time and here’s the whole weekend squashed into under a minute and a half…
