Own Your Town

Own Your Town on BobinOz is simple:

1 Own Your Town Make a 5 minute (or so) video about the town you live in, or a town you used to live in, towns that are near you, or even towns you know very well.

2 Own Your TownSend me your video using a file transfer facility. My current preferred favourite is dropsend.com, which is free. But I will happily use any file transfer method you prefer.

For example:

Please shoot me an email using Bob@BobinOz.com to arrange this.

3 Own Your Town Once I have uploaded your video to BobinOz, you Own Your Town!

…..But just here, on BobinOz.

But why would you want to?

Firstly, to be part of this exciting project. Could Australia be the first country in the world to have a video about every single city, suburb, major town and small town available to view, online, for free?

Maybe it could, with your help.

Apart from that, why would you want to?

Everybody who contributes a video to the Own Your Town area would get a signature box on that page. Something like this…..

bobsbuttyum Own Your Town

(I don’t really make bacon sarni’s, but you get the idea.)

So, if you run a local business, whether it be a cafe, a hotel, the best pub in town, a butchers, or a website all about the area, I’m sure you can see the benefit of such highly targeted exposure. The signature box will also link to your website if you have one.

And as long as your video remains on the site, so will your advert. As there would be no reason for me to remove your video, you can call it free advertising for life – in exchange for a 5 minute video!

Of course, there are terms and conditions…..

Terms and Conditions.

For those wishing to contribute a video to the Own Your Town area, the following conditions apply:

  • You will always retain ownership rights to your video, but grant BobinOz.com a worldwide, and royalty free license to use, reproduce, display, edit, adapt and make available online the content you provide.
  • You also agree to allow BobinOz.com to upload the resulting video into any YouTube (or other video sharing website) account which is opened by BobinOz.com, under the terms of service applicable to that site.
  • BobinOz.com agrees to remove the video, should you request its removal for any reason whatsoever, within a period of 28 days of your request.
  • By sending your video to BobinOz.com, you are deemed to have agreed to the above terms and conditions.

Don’t like those Terms and Conditions?

Just so that you know, when I say “adapt” your content, my intention is to make some minor edits, if any are needed, and then “top and tail” your video with a BobinOz intro and conclusion.

If you would prefer your video to be unaltered, then as an alternative you can simply upload your movie to your favourite video sharing site, YouTube for example, and then email me the link.

If I like your video, I will feature it on the relevant page. You won’t get your own signature box doing it this way, but you will get back links and exposure to your video, which will help you get more views.

Then roll the camera!

Don’t have a camera?

If making videos isn’t your thing, you can still contribute to the Own Your Town areas of this website. Simply find the page for the town you live in, or even a town you used to live in, and add a comment in the comment box at the bottom.

Ooh look, here’s a comment box now…….

Australia has ridden the recession better than most countries, but things here are definitely slower right now and they have been in the last few years. Retailers seem to be struggling.

But if you want to go where all the work is, they tell me Perth is the place to be. Go west, It’s boomtown apparently, that would be my advice. But do please seek more opinions, I’m not an expert.
