It’s another absolute scorcher today, the dial indicates it’s 28°C, that’s about 84°F in the old stuff. There’s not a cloud in the sky, so no sign of rain. I love autumn!
Of course, it’s Easter, and we have a fun packed weekend lined up.
This afternoon…. sorry, forgot, I’m an Aussie now… this arvo we will be at a friends house enjoying a few tinnies around the barbecue. Tomorrow, we have friends coming round ours for a curry and more beers.
Sunday we will be on our traditional Easter egg hunt, followed by bacon butties and more beer.
Monday, there is talk of going to the beach. But today is still Friday, Easter Friday, so here is the Friday video.

It was a great Easter for weather, I was over on Stradbroke Island, I had a few cold corona and a swim in the sea, it felt a long way from the Manchester Ship Canal.

Yes, Manchester Ship Canal have got a lot of work to do in the second half, and what if I brought on Noosa with ten minutes to go? another trophy-less year for the historic canal I fear, not even Fergie could help them…..
Here’s a brief list of some other places I like here, and why.
Bribie Island, it’s not fashionable for some reason, or particularly busy, compared to say the Gold Coast, and that’s exactly why I like it. The Blue Anchorage restaurant there is good for fish, a warm afternoon and chilled white wine with the view over the channel to the Glass House Mountains.
D’Aguilar National Park, the trails just out of the city are not amazing, but up around Mt Nebo or even better Mt Glorious, there are some good trails through eucalypt and rainforest.
Ba Vigo, a tapas bar opposite the Cotton Tree campsite at Maroochydore, again, the whole being at the beach and then going for good food and wine does it for me, Ba Vigo is really a bit special, and yet it’s not expensive.
Morgans sea food restaurant at Scarborough, pretty good, anything next to the sea really. Wynuum and Manly also, nice for a walk. I could go on…
I’ve noticed, and my wife reports the same thing from her work, but some Brisbanites turn their noses up at the idea of Bribie Island and Wynuum, and maybe even Redcliffe, kind of indicating that these places are somehow rough. I think ‘rough’ must be relative then, I could show them places back home that might re-define ‘rough’.
Conversely, the Gold Coast is always popular, but it’s just like a hot day at Blackpool to me, and all those apartment blocks, reminds me of council tower blocks, I don’t get the attraction.
John, I’m with you all the way on the places you like. Bribie is a wonderful island, I think the gripe is that it’s too quiet. Nothing wrong with Wynnum or Redcliffe, although I think there isn’t really enough “golden” sand for it to please most beach lovers.
I don’t ‘think’ anyone believes these places are rough, and frankly, as you know, they are not.
I love Mount Nebo and some of the walks around there, and Maroochydore is probably our favourite place in Australia. Strangely though, I’ve never been into Ba Vigo, and we have camped at the campsite you mention. I love tapas, so next time I’ll pop in there.
try it when you’re next up there, I always notice that The Coffee Club (anywhere there are colour photos of the food on the menu, it’s usually naff, and I’m being polite there) is always packed with people having lunch, while Ba Vigo a few doors along is never full, the difference is quality is massive, while the difference in price is not, all things considered. I think people just like to stick with what they know, Coffee Club, Subway, etc.
