We moved to Australia in November 2007. About 13 months later, I launched this website with a video called Our First Full Year in Australia.
Since then, each time I’ve complete a full calendar year, I make another video. I now have four videos; 2008, 2009, 2010 and today I’ve added my video for 2011.
In each video I try to capture the spirit of the year in 5 minutes or less. This year I have failed. This one lasts 5 minutes and 9 seconds.

I got my PR after a long wait(2 years).. I am planning to move to Australia in December.. I would like to know if I have to apply for an Immicard or something like that to travel to Australia. I only received an email saying “grant letter”. Would that be suffice to travel or should I apply for anything else to be ready to travel. Please advise.. Thanks in advance.

Sorry, but I don’t even know what an Immicard is, pretty sure they didn’t have those when I moved here 10 years ago. I haven’t got one, and I came here on PR as well.
My best advice to you would be to check on the government’s immigration website to find out exactly what you need these days, as the rules do change from time to time. It’s always best to get this information from the horse’s mouth, so to speak.

You won’t remember me but I’ve written to you before and you were most helpful and informative. I have since been into various sites to try and find out about something else, i.e. whether certain illnesses would prevent us from moving to Oz. We have Aussie friends near Sydney but they don’t have an answer. Anyway, as British retirees, we would be paying our own health costs, and with that in mind, my question is whether you know if my having RA would stand in our way? Thank you.

oh my goodness i would not have a clue what to do if a snake entered my house… probably have a heart attack. i’m loving this blog
A heart attack is probably not the best defence when confronted with a snake, phoning a snake catcher is probably a better idea 🙂

I think it was a green tree snake, they are not venomous. You’ll be pleased to hear, it’s the only snake that has ever been into my house. Well, as far as I know.
Don’t worry too much about the snakes though, I rarely see them, maybe once a year?

No, we don’t, we might get quite a few heavy rain falls and localised flash flooding a couple of times or so a year, but actual floods are very rare. We’ve only had a couple of those in the last 40 years or so.

Hey Bob, what happened your dog? That snake really scared me. How did you get rid of it?
Poor old Baggy simply got, well, old. He made 15 years, not bad for a chocolate lab but cancer got him in the end, so we had to call in the vet. He died peacefully.
As for the snake, if you really want to know how I got rid of it, check out my snake video. Make a cup of tea or coffee, sit down and enjoy.

I wish! No, MrsNZ, I am not loaded. We don’t spend a lot of money each year, and we are very careful what we do spend it on. For example, the whale watching trip, that was on a halfprice deal, one of those coupons.
You don’t need to be rich to enjoy the great Australian outdoors.

here in kerala we have one snake catcher ‘vava suresh ‘ like your black snake, he is handling snake like flowers……so many snake bites he overcome…. really a wonder to us…
here water falls are many,Athirappally,vazhachal…..
backwaters in kumarakam,Alappuzha……
beaches in kovalam,sanghumukam,kochi etc…
feel the unity in diversity of India from one end to the other
I like most is Himalayas,especially ‘kailasam’

Personally I don’t think it’s anything to do with us, it rained heavily on this earth long before the Industrial Revolution. Where you live sounds quite beautiful too, I love waterfalls!
