Crocodiles, sharks, snakes, spiders, jellyfish, V8 Supercars…. V8 Supercars?????
If you read my post from yesterday about my Redback Spider bite, you’ll probably remember that I ended it with the rather dramatic statement that something else happened on Saturday that “should have ended in death”.
Perhaps you thought “Oh, that BobinOz, he is such a drama queen!” Well, wait until you see this!
As I said yesterday, BeninOz and his family had come round for a takeaway pizza. I asked Ben what he’d been up to during the day, and he told me he’d been to see the V8 Supercars at Queensland Raceway in Ipswich. That’s just 20 minutes or so down the road, so close in fact that on quiet days I swear I can hear the cars racing around the track from my house.
When I asked him how it had gone, he replied that it was okay, but there had been a terrible accident. “It was lucky nobody died.” He said.
That’s when I thought “Oh, that BeninOz, he is such a drama queen!”
He went on to describe the incident to me and when I asked him how bad it was, he said “Oh, it’ll be on Seven News tonight.”
As regular readers will know, I record Seven News automatically each day on my Foxtel Digital box, so later that evening I sat down to check it out. Yes, it was on the news, it was the main story.
I have never, ever, seen anything like this. For sure, there were some people there that day who are lucky to be alive right now. Seven News don’t post on Youtube, but RTL do. Take a look at this…..
When all the dust had settled and everyone who needed treatment had been sorted, one 60 year old man suffered cuts to his head and a suspected fractured shoulder whilst a 59 year old man had some facial cuts.
That was it! Yes, Australia is a dangerous place but it’s also know as The Lucky Country. Too right!
