Australia’s Free Barbeque Areas

in Life in Australia

This is what life in Australia is all about.

I was in Fig Tree Pocket the other day, that’s a little suburb in Western Brisbane. I was checking out the free barbecue facilities. If you have two minutes to spare, why don’t you check out those BBQ’s with me.

Why would you want to do that? Because, for the first time EVER, I will reveal the truth about Australian’s and barbeques….

I’ve never seen those “real fire” bbqs before. Up here in Noosa I think there’s a total fire ban but there are reams of free gas bbqs. Very sophisticated. That park looks lovely:)

Hi Ian

You’ll be spoilt for choice when you get here, make sure to contact me when you arrive and I’ll give you some extra tips. Maybe I’ll even buy you a beer.

Hey Annabel

Yes, we still have quite a few of the old caveman barbecues, but we also have plenty of gas fired barbies too. But for me, there’s something a bit special about cooking on a real fire. That park is actually at the entrance of the “Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary”. The world’s biggest koala sanctuary.

Hi Bob, its great to see these free bbq’s, it just goes to show people have respect for things over there, they would not last 5 minutes here before they were trashed, infact i doubt the mortar would even have time to set!
Thats one of the reasons i shall be upping sticks and joining you on the better side of the earth.

Hi Chris

Congrats, sounds like you are on your way. We do still have the odd senseless act of vandalism here, Oz certainly isn’t crime free.

But by and large, yes, things are more respected. You won’t be disappointed when you get here. Let me know how it goes.

cheers

Bob
