Warrnambool – City By The Sea

by BobinOz on February 3, 2009

Warrnambool is the biggest city along the Great Ocean Road. Well, you saw the road, (you did see the road in the last post, didn’t you?) there wasn’t much competition was there?

We had decided to stay for three nights, mainly to give our daughter some beach time. She’s a plucky little girl, but even she might have struggled to have fun on the beach in just above freezing (in Australian terms) temperatures of 17°c. But we didn’t want to put it to the test, just in case.

Our initial impression of Warrnambool wasn’t great. We were thinking “why did we book 3 days here?” – but looking at the photos now, I wonder if we weren’t already being spoilt by the beauty we were enjoying in this fantastic country. How could we not be impressed with this……

As I looked at more pictures, Warrnambool began to look better and better…

So how did we manage to keep our daughter off the beach? We found this….

a fair! Told you she was plucky. She was up and down like a kangaroo on this thing for ages. But not the whole 3 days of course. Tomorrow, we visit Port Fairy.
