Samsonvale Lake: How to Enjoy the Outdoor Life in Australia

Monday’s post was about Sunday’s visit to Samsonvale Lake for a Picnic on Father’s Day. In it I said I was ‘pretty sure we could only see a very small section of the lake’ from where we were.

This was pretty much all we could see…

Samsonvale LakeSo for today’s post I wondered if I could find a video so that we could all see much more of Samsonvale Lake than I was able to show you.

So, could I find a video?

I couldn’t believe just how many videos there are on YouTube of Samsonvale Lake. Samsonvale Lake, it seems, is a hive of activity.

Fishing, sailing, walking, mountain bike riding, drone flying, sunset photography, swimming, it’s all going on in and around Samsonvale Lake and what’s more, people are videoing themselves doing these things. So I’ve got lots of videos for you, but they are all short, with each being around one or two minutes.

Firstly, there were shed loads of drone videos, here are just a few of them. Keep your eyes peeled, because in one of them I’m pretty sure you can make out the skyscrapers of Brisbane city in the distance…

Why so many, I wondered? Turns out that Samsonvale Lake was the venue for International Drone Day 2016…

Of course, plenty of people use the lake to go sailing…

Sometimes some people go sailing too fast for their own good…

For those who prefer to stay dry, maybe sunset photography is a better bet…

Then there’s the fishing. I’m not a fisherman myself, so I’d never heard of a lungfish. Now, thanks to the next video, I’ve seen one and it’s big. So big that these fishermen decided to let this one go…

Then there are the walking videos. People walking around the bush that surrounds the lake. One of those videos lasts for 38 minutes and 40 seconds and, would you believe, it’s had over 85,000 views! Would you like to see it?

No, I didn’t think so. You’ve probably had enough of Samsonvale Lake by now. But I do have just one more video for you, and I’m sure you will be pleased to hear that it only lasts 37 seconds.

In Mondays post I showed you a picture of a house that had a view of Samsonvale Lake from the back garden. I found a video on YouTube of another house with this lake as a view which was up for sale three years ago.

I’m sure it would have been sold by now, but luckily for us the video is still online. I’m not sure how long for, but check this out, it really is something…

I’ve always said that one of the best things about living in Australia is the outdoor lifestyle. Samsonvale Lake is a perfect example of that.
