It was a strange weekend really. The girls had a go at wood sawing…

Saw 1The adults finished it off though…

Saw 2So now we are the proud owners of this…

Brookfield Distict MuseumElizabeth made a new friend…

New friend 2

New friend And she won some ribbons for displaying a guinea pig…

Guinea pigMind you, she had to borrow the guinea pig off her friends Millie and Jasmine first.

Of course, there were Showbags…

ShowbagsThe odd pony…

PonyMountaineering to be done…

Climbing 1

Rock ClimbingAnd for the second time in a month I found myself staring at a Minion…

MinionMillie won a big cuddly dog…

Cuddly dogI said “Hi” to a duck…

DuckAnd a koala made out of lychees…

Lychee KoalaThe most fascinating part of the whole weekend though was surely the highly unusual competitions. For example, Class 4, Vegetable &/or Fruit – Car:

Vegetable or fruit car

That’s when I saw my second Minion of the day…

Minion 2Then there was Class 13 which is called Five Chilli

Five chili signIt appeared to be a competition for the best presentation of five chillies on a plate. This one won it…

Five chilli winnerAnd this one did not…

Five chilli loserI think I know why.

If you thought that was strange, Class 11 was called Nuts on a Plate.

Nuts on a plate signNo specific number on this one, so it would appear you have a free reign on how many nuts to use. There were some great entries for this…

Nuts on a plateBut clearly there can only be one winner…

Nuts on a plate winnerNuts indeed.

If you haven’t already guessed it, we spent the weekend at…

The 2015 Brookfield Show

The Brookfield Show is a three day agricultural show held every year in the Brisbane western suburb of Brookfield during May at the Brookfield Showground…

Brookfield ShowThere’s plenty to do, including…

Are you ready for this? Here goes:

Children’s art, photography, needlework, horseriding events, sideshows, sheep shearing, woodworking, tug-of-war, face painting, rock wall climbing, rodeo, I’ve got some video footage of that from a few years ago on my post called The Rodeo at the Brookfield Show in Brisbane, live music, dog sweepstakes and dog best of breed judging, dancing performances, venomous snake show and display, guinea pig displays, choir singing, a clown show, scarecrow judging, a hanging basket workshop, pony rides, wood chopping, IWA wrestling, a magic show, wine and cheese tasting, an eating competition, a literary awards presentation, a slam dunk spectacular, fairground rides and a fire show all topped off with a fireworks display.

Oh, and a bar with live music.

It’s what life is really like in…

    Hi Bob

I’m not sure but i think the koala is actually made out of Kiwis… not the new Zealand folk by the way.hehe
Since i return from London, i started to plant chilli’s, or as we say in Portugal, piri-piri or malaguetas. very cool, brings me great joy to watch the progress of them.

    Cheers

Ah, yes, well spotted Valter, seems the koala is made out of a kiwi and not a lychee; as you might probably have appreciated, horticulture isn’t really my thing.

I have just checked with Google and indeed a lychee is most definitely a ruby red coloured fruit, whereas a kiwi looks exactly like the above koala, albeit more rounded like a ball in its natural shape.

I will leave this error up as a constant reminder that sometimes I shouldn’t just go ahead and type, sometimes I do need to doublecheck stuff with my research department, Google.
